CHARLES ADDAMS.
"I've been troubled lately by an eerie, recurring dream. I seem to be seated in a darkened room staring in helpless fascination at some sort of box, or cabinet, in the center of which is a phosphorescent likeness of the human alimentary tract, rendered in graphic detail, while a disembodied voice urges me to buy a potion for acid indigestion." Full-page cartoon for The New Yorker, with their stamp on verso, published September 14, 1963. Watercolor, pen, and ink on board. 318x305 mm; 12 1/2x12 inches, on 22x13 1/2-inch board. Signed "Chas Addams" in lower right image, erased caption in the artist's hand in lower margin. Registration marks in margins. Provenance: From the Tee & Charles Addams Foundation.
