A charming early American state map of Ohio engraved in Cadiz by Robert Thomas Anderson. Each county is delineated by outline hand-color; the Fire Lands, Ohio Company Purchase, Connecticut Reserve and other Districts are laid out across counties; the Ohio and Erie Canal between Cleveland and Portsmouth at the Ohio River and the lower portion of the Miami and Erie Canal between Cincinnati and Dayton are outlined in red; the north boundary claimed by Ohio at the Michigan Territory is shown. A delicately engraved harvest-themed vignette in the lower right incorporating the title adds a quiet sense of balance and decoration to the map.
"Not in Philips and very rare" as described by Eberstadt in 1964. Only four copies traced on the market since the early 20th century.Price Realized (with Buyer's Premium) $5,750
