A very complex "uplift" poster consisting of a five-column center ledger, 8x91/4 inches, for entering birth marriage and death dates, surrounded by eleven vignettes of slavery and post slavery scenes, numerous portraits of Afro-American figures as well as every president from John Adams to William McKinley; directly above the ledger portion is a portrait of Frederick Douglass flanked by Lincoln and Washington; beneath that portraits of Judson Lyons, Lucy Laney, and Booker T. Washington; at the bottom are 10 more engraved portraits of Sisserietta Jones (The Black Patti), Ida B. Wells, Hallie Q. Brown, T. Thomas Fortune and others above two large rectangular scenes of Afro-American soldiers at the Battle of San Juan.
