Additional Details

A heartbreaking image that captures Medgar Evers's eight-year-old daughter, Reena, as she wipes away tears at his funeral. Evers was a Civil Rights Activist in Mississippi who tirelessly advocated to overturn Jim Crow laws. Shortly after President John F. Kennedy's televised Civil Rights Address on June 12, 1963, Evers was shot in the back as he exited his car in the driveway of his home. He received full military honors before being buried in the Arlington National Cemetery.
