Additional Details

inscribed and signed by kent with a 6x6-inch ink and watercolor drawing of forest trees: "to my friend ray greenleaf I inscribe this copy of `Wilderness' in grateful appreciation of his help in the making of this book" and dated April, 1920, the month of publication. Greenleaf and Kent were founding directors of the Society of Independent Artists which celebrates its centenary in 2017. The SIA was a profound association that granted artists permission to participate in non-juried exhibitions. Greenleaf remained a champion of Kent's work and was instrumental in helping him bring Wilderness to publication.
