ROBERT FALCUCCI (1900-1989) 10ÈME RALLYE AUTOMOBILE MONTE CARLO. 1931.
47x31 1/2 inches, 119 1/2x80 cm. Monégasque, Monte Carlo.
Condition B+: minor overpainting and restoration in margins; repaired tears in upper left corner; minor repaired tears and creases along vertical and horizontal folds.
"Rally racing - as opposed to Grand Prix racing - is run not on a designated racing circuit but rather from geographic point A to geographic point B. Participating cars depart in stages, at regular controlled intervals . . . [this rally] required its competitors to start from various sites throughout Europe and follow a precise itinerary that concluded with a dramatic automotive entrance into Monte Carlo. Falcucci's imaginative design makes it clear that no matter where on the globe the contestants started, all roads lead to Monte Carlo and its famous bay, which here is silhouetted in the rising sun" (Crouse p. 164). Falcucci designed posters for the Monaco Grand Prix as well as for the Rally. Crouse p. 164, Azur 328.
