Additional Details

A rare copy of Ansel Adams' first book, which contains 12 original photographs and was published when he was just 28. Having recently transitioned from his career as a concert pianist to become a full-time photographer, this publication's success (the edition sold out in two years at $75 each) was encouraging. Mary Austin, a popular nature writer, supplied the text, and her evocative language provides the perfect accompianment to Adams' softly geometric and modernist imagery.
