Patent of nobility in favor of Antonio Muñoz de Castañeda of Valladolid. illuminated manuscript in spanish on vellum, written in roman hand in brown ink, with headings and decorated initials of various sizes in gold on red, blue, or green ground throughout. With family tree of the grantee on leaf 1r, full-page portrait on 3r, historiated borders on 3v and 4r, and half-page portrait on 75r, all painted in colors and gold. Official stamp and proofreader's paraph in lower margin on recto of each leaf. 77 (of 78) leaves, including 2 blanks at end; lacks leaf 2, presumably with the arms of the grantee and possibly other illumination. 314x218 mm, disbound, quires loose in vellum wrapper with official stamp, preserved in contemporary vellum wraparound folder with thong catch and clasp; conspicuous dampstaining on leaves in third and last 2 quires.
