A splendid album containing 50 delicately hand-colored images of Japan, including parks, tea houses, snow-covered trees, temples, cherry trees, festival scenes, villages, occupational scenes, geishas, children, pilgrims, and Mount Fuji; including many unusual scenes. Hand-colored albumen prints, each approximately 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), and the reverse, many with a caption in the negative; with the original tissue guards. Oblong folio, black lacquer covers with gilt highlights and ivory inlay, including the names Nellie and Russell; nearly fully disbound. 1890s

Hand-colored albumen prints, each approximately 8x0 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), and the reverse, all with captions and inventory numbers mounted below the prints or in the negative; scattered foxing, with the original tissue guards. Oblong folio, black lacquer boards with gilt highlights and ivory inlay, backstrip perished and covers detached; with the Kimbei studio stamp on the front pastedown and an owner's inscribed name and date on the front free endpaper; all edges gilt. 1894.
