The Civic Aquarium in Milan, Europe's third oldest aquarium, opened in 1906 as part of the World's Fair taking place in that city. It is housed in a beautiful, Liberty Style building, but the artist has foregone depicting the structure in favor of focusing on a (much) larger-than-life rendering of a Fantail Goldfish. Although widely considered to be the work of Leopoldo Metlicovitz (1868-1944), Ricordi lists the artist as anonymous. Ricordi 203.
