Suite of 4 photographs from Czechoslovakia. Silver prints, the images measuring 9 3/8x7 3/8 inches (23.8x18.7 cm.), and the reverse, each with Bourke-White's hand stamp, and one with the notation Czechoslovakia, in pencil, and an inventory number hand stamp on verso. 1938

Additional Details

Prior to the outbreak of World War II Bourke-White traveled to Europe to record the rapidly increasing oppression of Nazism, and its effect on the population. On March 15, 1939 the Germans annexed Czechoslovakia; the occupation ended with Germany's surrender in 1945.
