Ulreich (1884 - 1966) was born in Koseg, Austria-Hungary, and emigrated with his family and attended the Kansas City Art School and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Throughout the 1920s, he illustrated for such magazines as Delineator and Vogue, and was hired for various WPA projects, often collaborating with his wife, artist Nura Woodson Ulreich. In demand for his decorative art and murals, he created numerous works for the 1933 Chicago World's Fair's "Century of Progress" exhibition and his Art Deco-style "Wild West" Radio City Music Hall panels in New York City can still be seen.
