This work depicts the studio of Levitz (1896-1964) with fellow artists Beauford Delaney, Al Hirschfeld and Don Freeman, who mingle in a group standing near the doorway. Levitz pictured far right, examines a painting with a model. Lydia Freeman, wife of the artist Don Freeman (both of whom once owned this painting) stands in the center foreground.
