In 1984, Haring was in France, where he attended the 24-hour Le Mans car race on 16 and 17 June. While there he painted a child-size Ferrari, adorning it with his recognizable graffiti symbols and characters, including a radiant baby and barking dog. Some of the images Haring added to this French concert poster were inspired by Le Mans, including a "24 Hours of Le Mans" figure and a smurf decorated with a checkered flag. The Cramps were a New York-based band which Haring would have seen perform at Club 57. Art of Rock, 4.265, p. 415.
