Springfield, IL, 18 March 1842 * Two issues of the Illinois Advocate / State Register from Lincoln's term in the state legislature, though not mentioning him by name. Vandalia, IL, 3 December 1834 and 29 December 1837 * Niles' National Register. With a list of Whig presidential electors for Illinois, including "Ab. Lincoln of Sangamon." Baltimore, MD, 26 October 1839 * National Intelligencer. Published during Lincoln's term in the United States Congress, it includes a short notice: "Mr. Lincoln delivered a speech on the subject of internal improvements, in the course of which he argued in opposition to doctrines advanced on this subject in the President's veto message."
