      George Edward Perine (1837-1885) apparently used the 8 November 1863 photograph by Alexander Gardner as his model (Ostendorf O-79). Provenance: Swann's Lincoln sale, 23 May 1985, lot 427. with--a period print from this plate, 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches to sight; not examined out of frame.
