      STUD BROADSIDE (WEST VIRGINIA.) Luke, John W. Tom Telegraph: This Fine Horse Will Stand the Ensuing Season. Illustrated broadside, 16 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches; moderate foxing, a few tears skillfully conserved. Np, 24 March 1858

      This broadside advertises the services of a stud horse on a bi-weekly schedule at Martinsburg and Charlestown in what would soon become West Virginia. The owner, John Whelan Luke (1815-1896), was a prosperous farmer then living in Clarke County in the northern tip of Virginia. Not recorded in OCLC.
