These records were kept by whaling merchant and ship owner Luther Dutton Cook (1794-1866) of Sag Harbor, NY. Includes: Receipt book containing signatures of men paid for work on ships, whale oil, etc. Some bear distinctly African-American names such as Lewis Cuffee.  pages, 1822-35 * Manuscript abstract of Sag Harbor Customs House whaling ship entries, listing barrels of oil for each ship.  pages, 1789-1849 * A neater manuscript version of the same.  pages, 1804-45 * Ledger and record book of the Atlantic Whaling Company.
