". . . May I be allowed to assist as artist at your concert on February 18, instead of February 4? My trip at the end of January to Holland has quite some consequences; . . . I . . . trust that I will not cause you too great a trouble. . . ."
On February 18, 1876, in Frankfurt, as part of a Museum Concert organized by the Frankfurter Museumsgesellschaft, Brahms performed his Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor and conducted Haydn's Variations on a Theme.
