      "In the late 1920s [Dorothy Newsome and Kathleen Irene Nixon] were commissioned by the Oxford University Press to visit India and execute a series of drawings . . . while there the Indian State Railways commissioned both women to design 34 colour posters of animals and birds" (The Dictionary of British Women Artists p. 197).
