Inserted title-pages printed in red, blue, black and gold. 8vo, publisher's green buckram, printed paper spine labels; top edges gilt, slightly dust-soiled; original plain dust jackets with paper spine panel labels, first two volumes with the front panels detached and a few tape repairs, intermittent abrading, shallow chips to foot of spine panels with associated fading to book spines, occasional other defects; extra spine labels tipped in at front of each volume, bookplate to front pastedowns. autograph edition, number 128 of 153 copies, signed by hardy in volume 1 beneath a printed statement: "This is the Authorized and Definitive Edition of my books" and is considered among the scarcest of all the signed limited editions by early 20th century authors. With limitation leaf stating that this copy was subscribed and bound for Arthur H. Masten and signed on behalf of the publishers.
