TRUMAN WARD INGERSOLL, ATTRIBUTED TO (1862-1922)
Teddy Roosevelt, William Wingate Sewall, and Wilmot Dow near the Little Missouri River, North Dakota. Albumen print, the image measuring 3 3/4x5 7/8 inches (9.5x14.9 cm.), the gilt-edged mount slightly larger, with the subjects' names and the date, in pencil, in an unknown hand, on mount verso. 1886

      Estimate $2,500 - 3,500

William Wingate Sewall and Wilmot Dow acted as hunting guides for Teddy Roosevelt on his trip to Maine in the late 1870s and became close friends with Roosevelt. Through their friendship, Sewall and Dow managed Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch in the Badlands of North Dakota between 1884-87, likely where this photograph was taken.
