Additional Details

An exceptionally scarce almanac. Featured are predictions on the war credited to an itinerant prophet in "A Brief History of the Allegany Philosopher"; and a 4-page original dialogue by the Rev. Uzal Ogden titled "The Nature, Necessity, and Importance of Regeneration." An oblique reference to the Revolution appears in a long quotation from Shakespeare concluding "England, that was wont to conquer others / Hath made a shameful conquest of itself," with a publisher's note asking "whether this prophecy is not now fully accomplished."
Drake 5121 (citing Evans); Evans 17009 (listing no copies, incorrectly citing "Roger Trueman" as pseudonym of author); Felcone, New Jersey Printing 330 (listing the only known copy in the author's collection). No institutional copies listed in ESTC.
