The "Atlantic" began her life as a freighter named "Badger Mariner," but was converted for passenger service in 1957. She briefly sailed for Arnold Bernstein's American Banner Line until taken over by the American Export Lines in 1960. She became the schoolship "Universe" in 1972 and was scrapped in 2004. She was a single-screw vessel with a single funnel.
