Additional Details

The artist and impresario George Catlin brought a troupe of Ioways to Paris along with his Indian Gallery in the summer of 1845, an adventure recounted in his "Adventures of the Ojibbeway and Ioway Indians in England, France, and Belgium." The top panel depicts the Ioways meeting with King Louis Philippe and the royal family. Most of the nine lower panels appear to be adapted from Catlin lithographs. No copies are listed in WorldCat, and no other copy has been noted on the auction market.
