Letterpress broadside, 16 1/4 x 13 inches, with manuscript signatures of Meshech Weare (president of the Committee of Safety) and a secretary; foxing, tasteful restoration including two small facsimile areas of text, folds, minor edge wear, unrelated manuscript verse on verso; uncut. Additional Details

The official New Hampshire printing of the act of Congress which ended the war. The title reads in full: "By the United States of America in Congress assembled, a Proclamation Declaring the Cessation of Arms, as well by Sea and by Land, agreed upon between the United States of America and His Britannic Majesty; and enjoining the Observance thereof." It prints the original 11 April proclamation of Congress in full, signed in type by Elias Boudinot and Charles Thompson, followed by a short resolution by the New Hampshire Committee of Safety issued 12 days later, "that the foregoing Proclamation be immediately printed and dispersed throughout this State." Evans 18240. ESTC lists only 3 copies; only one other copy known at auction since 1924.
