Yeffe Kimball (1914-1978) was an Osage Indian woman from Oklahoma who also painted under her married name, Slatin. This work was apparently produced in 1936 and then was exhibited widely in 1966 and 1967 as her reputation grew. It was part of her one-woman show sponsored by the Center for Arts of Indian America in Washington, DC (Arizona Republic, 26 February 1967).
