Album containing more than 95 photographs of Japan, Hong Kong, Gibraltar, Malta, Italy, and Pt. Said, with 3 multi-part panoramas; 3 of the single photographs are hand-colored. With 62 views of Japan, several attributed to beato, including Yokohoma after the typhoon, Kanasaw tea houses, geishas, Odawarra Castle, the Chief executioner, "The tea house where Mr. Richardson was murdered," Daishie, Tokyo, Atango-yama, Uweno, Kyoto, Nagasaki, Hakodadi, and other villages; as well as 6 compelling studies of the Aino; a 3-part panorama of Hong Kong by floyd and ahfong (sp?); a 2-part panorama by rosati; a 2-part panorama of a military encampment; numerous military views of the Royal Marine Battalion in Yokohama and in Gilbraltar, with pictures of H.M.S. "Monarch," including Frith Series views of Gibraltar; 9 Italian tourist scenes; and an unidentified and uncredited panoramic view of a harbor. Albumen prints, 9x11 1/2 inches (22.9x29.2 cm.), and the reverse, and smaller, mounted recto only; most of the Japanese views with a caption in the negative; many of the remaining prints with an identifying caption, in ink, on mount recto. Oblong folio, green morocco, with Fong Chow's handwritten notations, in pencil, on the front free endpaper and on several caption cards inserted into the album, edgewear; all edges gilt; one leaf detached.
