Additional Details

Photographer S. Kind of Bridgeport, CT had a clever racket. He took photographs of random passing cars, then traced their license plates in the motoring guides and mailed them these sample postcards, soliciting orders of six copies for a dollar, with the eye-catching message: "Caught! Going 25 miles and hour? If the sheriff catches you, it will cost you $25.00. I said 'If he catches you.' I caught you, but I'm the photographer." This family apparently took the bait. It's a charming photograph, showing a well-dressed party of seven in a Panhard touring car. This card was mailed to DeVer H. Warner of Bridgeport, who may have been one of the passengers or just a friend.
