(BLACK PANTHERS.) Hand-painted sign reading "BPP for SD, Free Huey & Eldridge" / "Peace and Freedom." Hand-painted double-sided sign, 21 1/4 inches round, comprised of two sheets of artist board stapled back to back; moderate wear, dampstaining at edges, other staple holes suggesting it had once been mounted on a post. Np, circa May-June 1968

Additional Details

Although undated, this sign presumably dates from the period between the announcement of Cleaver's Peace and Freedom Party presidential candidacy from prison on 13 May 1968, and his 13 June release from prison. It comes from a Los Angeles-area estate. Found inserted between the two sheets were fliers for two Los Angeles events dated 10 May [1969].
