Additional Details

Black entrepreneur Harold "Slim" Jenkins (1890-1967) opened his Oakland nightclub with the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, and it quickly became known as his city's answer to the Cotton Club, featuring the biggest acts from the blues and jazz worlds. Jenkins was using this "Jenkins Cosmopolitan Square" name circa 1956; he moved from this West Oakland location in 1962. This small promotional, folding down to business card size, features exterior and interior views of the club as well as a short dinner menu featuring southern-fried chicken, prawns, and filet mignon.
