Additional Details

The photographs show marchers on the mall in Washington, with the United States Capitol, Jefferson Memorial, and other federal buildings in the background. One caption notes that the march was "a national day of atonement to reinstate the duties of manhood, fatherhood, and brotherhood to show that we love, honor, respect, and protect our women to create a positive future for our children." Other captions urge "Black unity," "political empowerment" and "economical freedom."

A note credits the photographs to Johnny Ray, Jr., along with his business card bearing a New Jersey telephone number. In addition to the photographs, the album contains a circular letter signed in facsimile by Louis Farrakhan dated 28 January 1994, a registration certificate and card for the march issued to the photographer, and a "survival list" supply kit for marchers intended to last 3 days.
