Hartshorn, complimenting him on his selfless service during the Civil War and informing him of his civilian duty to present a paper on his experiences during his military career at the next meeting of the Society of the Army of the Tennessee: ". . . answer me promptly that you will be on hand and ready--you have four months for preparation." 2 pages, 4to, with integral blank; separations at folds repaired with archival tape.
