(CIVIL WAR--MAP.) Aschbach, G.A. Pocket Map Showing the Probable Theatre of the War. Hand-colored folding map, 16 3/4 x 14 inches, minor wear and soiling. Laid in an early plain cloth folder. Philadelphia: M.H. Traubel, 1861

Additional Details

This Pennsylvania mapmaker apparently expected the war to be confined to the Maryland-Virginia border, with Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania also shown. Insets of Baltimore and Washington are also included. West Virginia is not shown as a separate state, and Manassas / Bull Run is not included, so the map was likely produced before July 1861.
Second state, with copyright added and forts underlined in red. OCLC shows copies of any edition in only 3 libraries, and none known at auction.
