(CRIME.) Pair of wanted posters of James Earl Ray (one under an alias). Each 16 x 10 1/4 inches, with facsimile signatures of J. Edgar Hoover; folds, two small punch holes in earlier poster, minor dampstaining to the second; typed addresses of different agencies on verso. Washington, DC, 17 and 19 April 1968

Additional Details

Ray was sought in the 4 April 1968 assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The first poster was issued on 17 April before his actual name was known; he is listed with alias Eric Starvo Galt. The second poster was issued two days later using his given name. Both note that he "is sought in connection with a murder wherein the victim was shot. Consider armed and extremely dangerous." He was captured in London on 8 June.
