(CUNARD LINE.) "Caronia." Wonderful group of 28 vintage photographs, all but 3 oversize, with 26 of them showing the wonderful interior rooms of the ship, one being a portrait of the ship from a distance, and the remaining being a shot taken on deck. 13 of the photos are mounted or matted by the publisher (8 3/4x11 inch photos on larger mats or mounts); 14 of the photos are unmounted (12 are 10 1/2x13 1/4 inches and 2 are 6 3/4x9 3/4 inches (a few nicks and very short tears at edges on a few). Most photos are captioned in the negative and most negatives carry the studio's name (Byron of New York - a much prized studio). Some of the mounted photos have pencil notes on the back of the mounts, identifying the image and dating them to 01 February 1905 (20 days before the commencement of the maiden voyage). Some of the mounts quite nicked at edges. A wonderful group of photographs. 1905

Additional Details

With the maiden voyage being westward from Liverpool and commencing at the end of February 1905, it is a mystery as to why early pencil notes on some of the mounts of these New York produced photos are dated at the beginning of the same month. Go figure!
