(ENTERTAINMENT--MUSIC.) Photographs of Louis Armstrong posing with his trumpet at the Berklee College of Music. 3 photographs, 8 x 10 inches, one with pencil caption on verso and inked stamp of Harry Paul & Associates; minor wear. [Boston, 1958]

Additional Details

These three photographs were taken at the Berklee College of Music, at an event to celebrate a scholarship set up by Armstrong's manager Joe Glaser. The only captioned photo shows Armstrong with two Berklee College of Music students, Turkish-American music producer Arif Mardin (class of 1961) and pianist-composer Toshiko Akiyoshi (class of 1959). Armstrong had discovered Akiyoshi during a tour of Japan and helped facilitate her coming to Boston to study at Berklee.
