The Punahou School was founded for the children of missionaries in 1842--the first entirely English-language school in the Pacific. The school was incorporated as Oahu College in 1853, and the name was changed back to the Punahou School in 1934. Among its notable alumni over the years is Barack Obama, class of 1979. The present pamphlet was part of an effort to raise a $50,000 endowment for the school in the United States. It is signed in type by eight trustees, all from New York and New England. Forbes 2186; none traced at auction.
