Additional Details

As the wrapper title suggests, a strongly worded argument against the use of the word "Negro." The author billed himself as an "exponent of Christian education and human uplift." The Rev. Austin W. Turner (born in Alabama circa 1898) served in several different Baptist churches before arriving in Chicago by 1940. He was at this 4746 Calumet address in the 1950 census. No other examples traced in OCLC, or anywhere else. A similarly worded letter to the editor appeared in the Phoenix Sun on 17 April 1953 by a different minister. Rev. L.B. Nelson--who we suspect based his letter on Rev. Turner's tract.
