Album containing 50 hand-colored photographs of Japan and its people, including two women bowing to each other, women sleeping, making tea, musicians, geishas visiting, carpenters building a house, a woman slicing vegetables, a woman at the well, a man making wooden buckets, women spinning, street peddlers, embroidery and pottery shops, a flower show, and views of temples, architecture, and landscapes in Ikao, Haruna, Nikko, Tokyo and Oji. Albumen prints 7½x9½ inches and the reverse, some with captiones and numbers in the negative. Oblong folio, brushed grey lacquer with gilt and red lacquer details, spine worn; with the original padded cloth presentation box, worn. 1880s
