Fine album containing 51 photographs, all but the montage title page exquisitely hand-colored, comprising photographs of Japan and its people including 2 geishas arranging flowers, rapids near Kioto, a cook house, fishermen on a beach at Enoshima, a marriage, two young women asleep in bed, a festival procession, a group portrait of young women, a shinto priest, Buddhist priests, hair dressing, women carrying their children on their backs, an elaborately tattooed man, and many views of temples, bridges, and scenic landscapes. Albumen prints, 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches or the reverse, most titled and numbered in the negative, published by A. Farsari & Co., Yokohama.
