A Franciscan history of the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith's activities in New Spain. "Contains . . . a history of the missions on the Rio Grande and in Texas largely written from the personal experiences of Espinosa himself''--Wagner, Spanish Southwest 117. Also includes a section on Father Cassañas de Jesús María, who was killed by Indians in New Mexico in 1696. Arricivita's "Crónica seráfica y apostólica" (see lot 413) was issued in 1792 as a sort of sequel to this work.
