A propaganda tool to encourage recruitment from the African American community, stressing the heroes of the race. On the front cover, and leading off a large component of the booklet titled Naval Heroes is Doris 'Dorie' Miller who distinguished himself at Pearl Harbor when his ship was hit by Japanese planes. He was transferred to another vessel but it too was hit, and Dorie Miller was lost.
