Irvin C. Miller was a brilliant pioneer African-American agent and producer for black vaudeville and theatre from the 1920''s through about 1950. Years ahead of his time, Miller kept his artists employed in between shows by using them in advertising for skin and hair-care products. One of the models, Louise "Jota" Cook was a famous shimmy dancer. "What she did with her stomach," said trumpeter Ray Nance "would make you seasick."
