(NY POWER & ENERGY)
Pair of industrial albums associated with the Hudson River Power Company that once belonged to W.A. Anderson, an executive at the company, with more than 300 photographs. The first album, with 200-plus photographs, features interior views of power plants, including workers operating heavy machinery, close ups of turbines and unidentifiable proto-modernist machine parts, masterful engineering projects, scenes along the Hudson, as well as views of the Flatiron Building and street views of New York City, family pictures, and more. The second album, with 100 prints, depicts assorted views of upstate scenery, horticultural projects, beautiful homes and fancy cars, plus abstract studies of power lines, vessels transporting goods along the Hudson, large-scale construction sites (including a dam), and opening ceremonies at a power plant. Silver (290) and printing-out paper (13) prints, most of the photographs are 4 1/2x6 1/2 inches (11.4x16.5 cm.), with a few measuring 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), the family snapshots are smaller; each with captions in the negative. Oblong folios, gilt-lettered leather, edgewear; the second backstrip perished. Circa 1900-05
