This lot includes 4 Ohio ballots from the Civil War-era presidential elections: 1860 Lincoln-Hamlin Republican ticket illustrated with an eagle and flag, and spelling out a platform "in favor of a protective tariff, opposed to slavery extension," listing 23 electors, 8 1/2 x 3 inches 1860 Douglas-Johnson National Democratic ticket listing 23 Ohio electors, 3 1/2 x 3 inches 1864 Lincoln-Johnson Republican ticket with an illustration of a boy with an American flag, captioned "Rally Round the Flag, Boys!," listing 21 Ohio electors, 7 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches 1864 Lincoln-Johnson Republican ticket in German, illustrated with an eagle and the slogan "The Union Forever!" but also slogans in German, listing the same Ohio electors, 9 x 4 inches 5 other war-era Ohio state tickets, including an 1865 Democratic ticket in German listing George W. Morgan for governor. All are said to come from Zoar, OH, founded by German immigrants as a utopian community in Tuscarawas County in 1817. With--a circa 1886 Ohio Prohibition state ticket.
