Additional Details

Charles Henry Ebert (1873-1959) was best known as a landscape painter, but got his start doing satirical illustrations for Life Magazine. These original illustrations depict the 1900 presidential campaign and related topics, including vice-president Theodore Roosevelt depicted as a smiling insect brandishing the letter "I" in four of his hands. Three relate to the demise of William Jennings Bryan's candidacy, while another depicts the revolutionary general Emilio Aguinaldo, then leading troops against America in the Philippine-American War. Some or all of them appeared in Life Magazine on 22 November 1900 under the title "The Death and Burial of Cock Robin." with--5 proof sheets of the printed illustrations from this series.
