Additional Details

Norton's log and diary kept while master of several ships. The first ship mentioned is the "Lochinvar" sailing out of Castine, Maine for European trade. Most voyages, however, were in "Graham's Palley," which did some American coastal trade as well as European trade. A note at the beginning of the volume which was probably added by Norton years later is a melancholy reflection on his life.
