Additional Details

"The Cause is Won," announces this important British activist to his brother Richard Davis Webb, the man who arranged for the 1846 Irish printing of Frederick Douglass's "Narrative" as well as his speaking tour there. This letter was hastily written at 11 o'clock at night from the floor of Parliament on the occasion of the passing of the final bill on emancipation.
