Additional Details

"Your petitioner Duncan George . . . states that he was born free in the state of Georgia, that he removed to Bedford County, this state, some twenty three years since, that he had his free papers there recorded, and some eleven years that he afterwards removed to Davidson County, this state, & had his papers there registered. . . . Should he remove from the state that he would have to be located among strangers and strange laws, that his associates are here."
